About me and this site

"The mind is a great healer"  Hippocrates

My name is Kenneth McRae aka Kenny and I'm the author of this site. I started it back in 2010 when I thought that it would be a worthwhile thing to help to communicate as widely as possible the fact that solutions to a range of life problems such as low self esteem, psychosexual problems, issues with overeating and smoking, phobias, bad habits and much more are actually not difficult or expensive to find and implement, as long as the individual really wants to overcome them and that there's no physical cause at the root of the problem. Where there is no physical cause, such as for example when dealing with low self esteem or sexual performance anxiety or phobias, it's clear that the problem exists in the mind and can therefore only be cured in and by the mind.

My background and upbringing was stable and my earlier years were, while not uneventful, unmarred by any serious problems or difficulties. However my parents though well-intentioned sent me to a school which wasn't suitable for me and I often felt distracted and out of place. I can remember looking out of the window at the world passing by outside and wishing I was out there with it. Being a fairly spirited teenager I eventually decided to take it on myself to just leave and get out there and start to experience real life in the real world.

Needless to say mom n pop weren't tremendously impressed but like many other very young people I had no thought or concern about "the future" or the fact that I'd quit school early but for me there was no going back. (Back then that didn't have quite the same implications that it perhaps may have now). Naturally I ended up in a series of dead-end jobs for which I had little or no enthusiasm but was nevertheless starting to find my way in the world and having quite a lot of fun doing it.  As far as social life, relationships and things like that were concerned everything was basically good, however it fairly soon became clear that as far as finding a true vocation was concerned I was effectively lost. I had no idea what I really wanted to do with my life in terms of some sort of career and would unconsciously prevent myself from thinking about it in any real depth.

Eventually I managed to talk my way into a sales position, found that I had some aptitude for it and always enjoyed the buzz that comes with closing a good deal, good for all concerned, that is. I continued on in that field for a long time.

Then I discovered the power of the mind. I'd been invited to witness a demonstration of hypnosis, not a stage show but an experiment being conducted unofficially - though by an experienced hypnotist -  in a psychology department of an academic institution. What happened there, what I witnessed with my own eyes, pretty much blew my mind. Once the hypnotist had placed the subject into a deep trance state the subject was told by the hypnotist that the object the hypnotist was holding was a thin narrow strip of metal that had had its tip heated to red hot (it was a thin strip of metal but it hadn't been heated at all). Then the hypnotist lightly touched the subject's bared forearm with the tip of the metal strip and then within seconds a small red burn mark appeared on the forearm.

That was enough to convince me there and then that the power of the mind is real. I soon began to read all the literature on the subjects of hypnosis, psychology and the subconscious mind that I could get my hands on. I became an amateur scholar and also later began using self hypnosis to help change and/or improve various aspects of my own life. I'd come to feel quite consumed by the whole thing, but in a positive way. I was learning and growing, intellectually, imaginatively and in terms of awareness of my own - and others - true potential.

Before long it was well into the first decade of the 21st century and the internet was expanding rapidly. I was thinking about gradually phasing out from sales work and doing something else. I'd written numerous things on a range of subjects relevant to the role of the mind in things like quitting smoking, losing weight, building confidence etc and realised that I could pull all that together and create a website with it. However not being particularly tech savvy I didn't know how to do that. Using self hypnosis I trained my mind to think in terms of online success and sure enough before long I'd "stumbled" across what must be the best hosting company in the world who as part of their package deal with most of the background tech stuff themselves so I was free to focus on content. Soon thereafter, this site's first few pages went online.

A couple of months later after having added substantially more content I successfully applied to have the site partnered with the Uncommon Knowledge group. This is a group of  professionally qualified hypnotherapists and psychologists who started the group formally in about 1996 and later, I think in 2003, began to produce hypnosis downloads which could be downloaded from their site to treat a range of life problems in the comfort of the individual's home. That range of downloads has grown considerably since then and there are now probably over 1,000 different downloads which can be used to treat just about any psychologically based problem that you could think of.

The site, hypnosisdownloads.com has become globally recognised as one of the go-to sites for information about and access to these downloads and they have hundreds of thousands of satisfied customers throughout the world. My site itself focuses more on the various psychological and emotional aspects of the different problems and conditions and their causes which many people struggle with and are held back by, however there are links to the relevant downloads on most pages.

If there's some aspect of your life that you think is impacting negatively on the quality of your life, such as for example a bad habit that you can't seem to break, or a tendency to belittle yourself too much or an intense fear of confined spaces or whatever, have a look around here and see if there's something which could be of benefit to you.
